Today, we are pleased to take an interview of Patrick, en entrepreneur from California.

1.) Before we start talking about what you are doing today, I’d like to better understand you, your background, and what sparked this new business concept you’re taking to market?

Sure, I am more than happy to go into that. So, I grew up in southern California. I grew up in the Inland Empire, which is pretty much a more rural area outside of Los Angeles. So, I grew up in that area and went to college in Orange County. I went to Hope International University in Fullerton California, where I got my 4-year degree in Business Management. I thought about going for my MBA, but I wanted to begin working and gaining experience.

I have my hands in a lot of things. My full-time job is Director of Ministry at Calvary by the Sea in Honolulu Hawaii. It’s on the Island of Oahu.

Now, outside of my full-time job. Well, I dabble. I work on music, art, and learning new skills.

I used to work more for this company called Enigma Cars USA. This was a startup company, the American Division of a European sports car. I was (and still am involved, just not as heavily) in the company. My experience there gave me experience and helped me to where I am today.

2.) Can you explain what your organization does?

So, where I am now, it is a Montessori School. I help with kids and the church side of things. That’s the cool thing about what I do, people come to me and ask for my help and I help them out.

3.) Can you share your personal approach to managing an effective balance between life and work?

So, this is one of the great challenges isn’t it? Something that I have been doing to really work on this is to be in the present moment. When I am at home, this is the time for me to enjoy dinner with my wife and kids. These are moments that I cannot let slip away. I mean, I am at the point in my life where I have 5 kids. If I am not careful, they will be grown up and so I want to cherish that.

Same applies to working. I have got to be in the present moment. When I am working, I have got to be in the zone and not let my mind wander. There is a saying that I tell myself “Check yourself before you wreck yourself” and that keeps me on a good path.

4.) What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive?

Well, other than the “check yourself” mantra? Ha! I would say that making sure that I do not have a ton of browsers open when working in the office. And in the moments I am listening to music and I am just plugging along, I have found that upbeat background music is great. That LoFi stuff is pretty good.

5.) What is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Experiment if you can. This could be at work or in your personal life.

Try a different approach for how your life live. You may find that the way you are doing things works, or even doesn’t work, but you’d be amazed at how a little thing can make a big difference.

6.) What are you working on right now?

I am releasing my second book called “As One Thinks: A Revisitation of the James Allen Classic”. That has been almost a year in the making. It is me going over an old motivation piece, updating it and speaking to it. What I mean by this, is I am adding it, since its old and in the public domain, making it relevant and of value to people here today.

Other than that, I am working on learning more about NFT’s and the Metaverse. Lots of cool stuff coming in the digital world.

7.) What has been the most satisfying moment in your professional field?

I’d say that the most satisfying moment in my professional career was getting to the point where people would come to me and offer me jobs because of my experience with startups, launches and bringing order from chaos.

8.) What do you think it is that makes you successful?

One word: Adaptability. It is just like anywhere. The more adaptable you are to change; the more change won’t get you. Change is not always a bad thing. If you don’t know something, figure it out, and find someone to help you. You don’t have to know everything, but you must be a people person. That way, you can expand your network and knowledge of things. I may not know something, but I know people who do. That’s what I mean by adaptability.

9.) What advice do you have for someone interested in the automobile?

Well, I would go to enigmacarsusa.com and check us out. We are working on updating that website. We are still early on, and I hope one day to be like Tesla and have an online buying experience and physical stores.

10.) We are sure you aren’t done. How are you going to shake things up next?

Well, right now, I am focusing on getting to a point where I have more free time to work on the Enigma again and my side projects like writing. I know I will get there. Time is the most valuable thing and to get to a place where you make good money and have lots of time is the best thing.
