Hydei Booster Max - Specifically formulated for large Hydei fruit fly cultures. Highest yield for Drosophila Hydei (Large Fruit Fly)

Melanogaster Max Pro - Specifically formulated for Melanogaster fruit fly cultures. Highest yield for Drosophila Melanogaster (Small Fruit Fly)

Dual Combo Media - A media specifically formulated for high yield cultures of all Drosophila types. 

Using the incorrect formula could result in low yield cultures. if unsure then please select Dual Combo media as it will work perfectly with both.

Instructions:

Add 1 part media mix then 2part water and mix well

(50g Media / 110ml Water recommended for 32oz cultures)

Add some excelsior wood wool above the mix. (Flies will lay eggs on this and provides dry area for them to move around)

Add at least 100 fruit flies (Less will result in a poor yield. more will boost it)

Lid on the cup and put somewhere warm 21-28c. (if not kept warm the culture will likely fail or have a small yield)

Culture will start to produce a constant supply of flies after approximately 7-14 days depending on type of fly/temp until all the mix is gone. (Incubation is faster the warmer the culture is)

A typical Fruit Fly culture will produce 1000-2000 Flies and usually supply for over a month!

Simple clear plastic disposable cups will work fine with kitchen towel lids held with elastic band.

Top tips - PLEASE READ

Typical Ratio of Media:Water is 1:2 - Depending on temp/humidity this might need to be altered slightly. Media should not be too wet or dry.

If being kept in a dry location such as airing cupboard best to add a little extra water to ensure media does not dry out.

Mold is rare but can sometimes appear. Usually disappears once larvae start to mix up the media. Typically indicates culture is not warm enough and larvae production is too slow.

Once a culture appears to have expired quickly dispose of as keeping old cultures can encourage mites to appear.
